Slam Poetry & Short Story Event – January 4, 2020
Cromwell Arts Alliance in partnership with Cromwell Belden Public Library will hold a live performance of “slam poetry” or “spoken word poetry” and short story. Slam Poetry is simply a term used to refer to poems that are performed. Slam Poetry or Spoken Word Poetry (or performance poetry) is simply poetry that's written to be performed. One must not judge a spoken word poem simply by reading it, because the performance is 50% of the experience.
If you are a writer or aspiring writer thirteen years or older we are looking for you to participate.
If you have not participated in a “poetry performance” but are interested there are many resources available to you. You can search the internet or YouTube and find many examples and definitions. www.powerpoetry.org/action/how-write-slam-poetry is an example of a website that has definitions and step by step instructions anyone can follow.
If you still have questions, or would like to brainstorm ideas for your submission email us at and include “Slam Poetry” in the subject line. We will reply to your questions and or put you in contact with someone that will help you with your questions and or provide feedback on your drafts.
